"Alles rund ums Holz"
Since 1988 there has been a special kind of museum in the middle of the Styrian Wood World. There you can not only find out everything about the raw material wood, but there is also an exciting excursion destination for the whole family. Handicraft workshops, a wooden playground and arboretum (a tree garden with over 70 woody plants) offer interesting and varied activities. The Styrian Holzstraße offers another highlight, this runs like a red thread through the wood world Murau and celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2009. The Holzstraße connects the numerous historical and modern wooden objects in the region. In the surrounding villages, oversized wooden tools tower into the sky as visible signs of the wooden idea: hoes, rakes, compasses and, above all, the foxtail. They are "landmarks" of the Holzstraße, each pointing to a traditional or innovative piece of wooden architecture: an elegant light-flooded multi-purpose hall, a mill wheel that is still turning, farmsteads covered with shingle roofs, imposing wooden bridges. With a wide range of adventure tours, the Styrian Wood Road is made tangible for the visitors.
